ORC Week 3/4: A Sophisticated Ensuite in the Making

By Sabrina @pinklilnotebook · On April 24, 2014

I know—I know, I’m behind in the game.

But I’ve been super busy trying to play catch up this past week.

A little carless accident that involved an evening tea and boiling water set me back BIG time during week 3. But no worries, the burnt hand is healing up quickly and I’m determined to finish this baby on time.

If you’re just tuning in, I’m a linking participant in the One Room Challenge. You can catch up with week 1 and week 2 here.  I’m (slowly but surely) revamping this drabby-looking master ensuite bathroom into something fresh and sophisticated.

So let’s get down to the nitty gritty shall we.

First off, I removed all the tile around the tub—okay the hubs did it. But I helped! Watching and directing the hubs with a bandaged hand is a tough job, somebody needs to do it 😉

To make our lives easier, we tried to save as much drywall behind the tile as we could.  So for the most part, I guess we did okay. . .

We also removed the two ceramic towel holders under the window. Having towel bars that low just doesn’t work for us tall people. I have a special DIY project in the works to replace this.

Next, I patched everything up and I did it fast because I couldn’t stand looking at the mess.  It’s all prep for the feature wall I’m about to create!

As for the tile around the tub. . . well I’m going to paint that out white. And if all goes smoothly, I hope to paint the shower stall too.  It such a money and time saver in this reno process.

The floors still need to be replaced.  We plan to tackle this on the weekend.

These are the options I’m looking at right now. . .

As for the vanity, we were going to convert it to a double sink but at this time it’s going to remain as a single.  However, I’m torn between giving it a fresh coat of paint or just leaving it as is.  oh decisions! decisions!

So I’m left with exactly two more weeks to finish this all.

I have my hands full, don’t I?!

Wish me luck. . . because I need it!

Until next week (and hopefully injury free!).

[Continue to week 5]

P.S. – Did you catch a glimpse of this? I’m still in shock! PLN’s home office is one of the winners in the BHG Makeover Madness Linky Party! *happy dance*

I like the bottom right tile.. I like it for the floors as well, but in a darker color.

Great job!! I wouldn’t have the patience to do it myself, but it would be a huge money saver!

It’s definitely a huge money saver to do these things on your own (especially when you’re married to a handyman!) Thanks for the comment!
