Kitchen Details

By Sabrina @pinklilnotebook · On February 23, 2017

Our kitchen is taking shape and it feels fantastic to get all the messy work out of the way. With the addition of the wallpaper and built-in seating, I can now focus on all the pretty little details to tie this kitchen space together.

Let’s start off with our kitchen table. We bought this table a few years back when we were in our previous home. Not only is this a sturdy piece of furniture but it seriously looks great.

When investing in furniture for the home, I love going with a classic look that will never go out of style and a colour that will pretty much work with everything (even when you change homes).  I do have an extension in this table for maximum seating, however, if I wanted to make the space feel a little more airy, I definitely have the option to remove the leaf.

As I mentioned before, I wanted to add open shelving to this blank wall beside our kitchen cabinets.  I highly recommend that any shelving you install in the kitchen should be screwed right into the wall joist. Don’t rely on drywall anchors to hold up heavier kitchen items such as plates, bowels, cup, etc.  The weight does tend to add up.

I chose to go with the IKEA LACK Wall Shelf.  You can never go wrong with white 2″ thick floating shelves and since we needed a pretty large shelf to reach the joists on either side of this wall, the 43 1/4″ length works perfectly for us.

Our kitchen chairs are stunners! These Mustang Side Chairs which were generously provided by Wayfair,ca are stylish yet practical. Originally, I was eyeing these wooden Tuscany chairs but after some consideration, I felt they looked too traditional for our home. Plus, I didn’t see the Mustang Side Chairs the first time around 😉

I think the greatest thing about these chairs is the easy-to-clean moulded plastic tops which makes this stylish chair a kid friendly one! In case you’re wondering about comfort level, they definitely surpassed my expectations.  The curved back and moulded seat have a nice support when sitting down.  Even your elbows have a spot to rest while eating at the table.

Can we talk about those wooden legs for a second?! I love incorporating hints of wood throughout my home so this was a match made in heaven. It adds warmth not only to the chair but to the overall space.

I know, enough with the teasers already! I’m working on putting together the final reveal post and this is one before and after I can’t wait to share with you!

Disclosure: Thank you to Wayfair Canada for providing our space with some awesome kitchen chairs. All views, opinion and of course, creativity are truly my own.
