Hey guys!
Welcome back to week 3 of the One Room Challenge. This past week we have been working on a super cute book ledge for Olivia’s nursery. If you want to catch up on the progress, be sure to visit week 1 and week 2.
So this is as far as we got! Not quite finished just yet.
This little space in Olivia’s room will not only display her book collection but it will also double as desk space that she can eventually use.
Here’s what we did. . .
To begin, we created a house silhouette on her wall which will be the backdrop to her book ledge, desk and chairs.
Using painters tape to get the desired shape, we painted the silhouette the cutest shade of blush pink.
Next, hubby with the helping hands of Big Joe, created the book ledge out of pine wood. We used the same stain that we applied to our triangle shelves.
We are using an IKEA lack table which we had laying around in our house as her desk. I will be covering this in the extra wallpaper that we have from our accent wall.
As for chairs, I’m having the toughest time finding a pair. I fell in love with these children’s chairs from Restoration Hardware but unfortunately delivery to Canada is not ideal for the One Room Challenge. I should have started my search much earlier.
At the moment, I’m chairless. I’ve tried to search locally for children’s chairs or stools but I have yet to find anything. If anyone has any suggestions, please help a girl out!
To finish off this little reading area, I created a pennant banner out of card stock.
It’s my first time creating something like this, I love how it turned out!
I’m hopping we can get a lot more accomplished in the upcoming week but in the meantime, don’t forget to hop on over to Calling it Home to view all the other blogs taking part in the ORC. It’s so much fun to follow along on everyone’s updates.
See you guys next week 🙂

Loving where this is heading!
Thanks Kourtney!
What an awesome looking room already, Sabrina! And a super-late virtual congratulations hug on the arrival of Olivia. 🙂 My two cents is that it might not be a bad thing to wait to buy chairs until you can get the chairs of your dreams. My little guy (1.5 years now) is such a climber that we actually had to get rid of any kid-sized chairs in our house since we’d find him wobbling on his big brother’s chairs or using them to climb up on things he isn’t sturdy enough to get on yet 🙂 Good luck with the rest of the challenge; your room is already looking as gorgeous as the rest of your house.
Thanks so much Meredith!! WOW! I can’t believe your little one is already 1.5 years old! I might have to be careful with the kid-sized chairs as well. I wouldn’t want to find Olivia trying to climb her bookshelves one day.

Thanks so much Sarah! Going to check it out 🙂
Oh my gosh, I love this! What a simple but brilliant idea-your wall treatment looks amazing! Can’t wait to see the final look!
Thanks Kristin! I definitely love the wallpaper. It’s a pattern a child can grow with!
Sooo pretty! The room is going to be darling!
Thanks so much Lisa!
So adorable! I am doing similar shelves for our nursery to hold books!
Thanks so much! Can’t wait to see what you do Amanda!
So cute! Do you sew? What if you made (or got)poufs instead of chairs. World Market has some small ones that would work great at a table that size if they have the right colors. Good luck!
