One Room Challenge Week 5: Finishing Touches

By Sabrina @pinklilnotebook · On April 30, 2015

Hey all,

Welcome back to week 5! If you’re just tuning in for my One Room Challenge, be sure to catch up with my previous posts here:

week 1 ⎸week 2  ⎸week 3 ⎸week 4 ⎸week 5 ⎸week 6 (reveal)

This past week, I had a minor setback.

Remember I mentioned in my last post, the buffet server I purchased secondhand?

Well here it is. I bought this piece prior to renovating our home (specifically for the living room).

The plan was to paint and refinish this piece. . . which I did. . .

And I hated it. The style and size of this massive buffet server just looked so awkward in my living room.

As soon as we saw it in place, about five seconds later it came back out. I kicked myself afterwards for not taking a picture to show you guys.

Since that point, I’ve been frantically searching stores to find a replacement piece that isn’t too big or bulky.

If you are following me on Instagram, I’ve been having a little fun with gold spray paint.

Since I have yet to talk about my furniture pieces that I’m using for the space—I figured, I might as well leave you in suspense until next week 🙂

(I know, I’m a horrible person!)

As for the built-ins, the shelves are still missing but the trim is up and the lights are in. It looks so grand in person! I really can’t wait to see this in its full glory!

I have a ton of finishing touches that I need to accomplish in the next few days. It’s going to be a major push.

I know one thing for sure, I’m definitely looking forward to all the big reveals next week!

It’s a bummer because I loved the piece when I bought it, however, along the way our design changed and it no longer fit it:( Thanks for stopping by!

Oh, I hate it when you plan something and then it looks nothing like how you wanted it to! Sounds like you have a good backup plan and that things are going well – love that gold! 🙂

Thanks Brit! I sort of had a gut feeling it wouldn’t fit in. My fault though, I sort of changed my design plan as we went along :s
