Inside Look with Natalie Spencer

By Sabrina @pinklilnotebook · On December 8, 2016

Hey guys, ready for another edition of Inside Look! Today, I welcome Natalie Spencer from the blog, The Party Parade. I met Natalie when I attended the Michaels Makers Summit back in September. After getting to know her a little better I discovered she’s a woman of many talents! Just take a look at her blog, her super cute projects speak for themselves.

“Hello! My name is Natalie Spencer, I am a wedding and portrait photographer, stylist, baker and DIY blogger with my sister at The Party Parade. I am a mama to a sweet and sassy four year old, Ellia, a wife to a restaurant owner and home building husband. We also have a Pomeranian named Piper and a house bunny named Poppy.  We live in an awesome neighbourhood in the west end of Ottawa in a new townhouse which we bought and were lucky enough to do custom work on during the build, two years ago.”

“My decor style is modern, with mid century, feminine and bohemian touches. I love white walls, and creating clean, bright and pretty spaces.”

“The main living area was a bit of a challenge, as the room is long, narrow and very open. We downsized from a much larger single home and moved to our dream neighbourhood.  Most of our furniture did not fit in the space. The gold sofa is an authentic Mid Century Modern piece, handed down to us from some of my husbands family and fit perfectly into the room. I also love the Acapulco chair from Home Sense which we had outside all summer, but brought inside with the chilly weather. “

“We painted the fireplace in a slate colour so that the TV would not stand out too much. I love displaying art and family photographs, and these Ribba Picture Ledges from Ikea are perfect for my ever-changing decor! The little cabinet from Jysk is great for hiding extra blankets, the TV remote and also a great place to keep some of my beloved plants.”

“The kitchen is one of the rooms which we had custom done in the home. The glossy cabinets, herringbone backslash and marble waterfall counter tops give the space a modern, clean feel. The large island is very functional for entertaining guests, baking and crafting. We always spend the most time in the kitchen, and having the large island is perfect! I love having unique and unexpected pieces, like our pink Eiffel chairs in the little dining nook.”

“The dining room houses one of my favourite pieces, our custom wood table we bought at a store in Toronto called Home Craft Decor. Our last home had a full playroom on the main floor for all of Ellia’s toys so I had to come up with alternative storage options for the smaller space. Her most used toys and crafts are all organized and stored in the sideboard in the dining room when they aren’t scattered on the floor!”

“My favourite project and space in the house is Ellia’s big girl room! I hand painted the mountain mural on the wall behind her bed, which was inspired by our love of California. The bed frame was thrifted and we love the cactus duvet I found on Society6! We filled the room with books, many DIY projects to add custom touches and Ellia’s favourite things.”
