Hey all,
This week I decided to put the hammer and drill down at The Mod House Project and take a little rest from the remodelling frenzy. Working around the clock can definitely take a toll on your body and we’ve all been told (at one point or another) that embracing a healthy lifestyle is the way to go.
Right!
But how many of us actually do it? I know, I don’t! I’ve always seemed to struggle with the recommended intake of daily nutrients.
Earlier this year, the hubby and I started on a smoothie kick. We wanted to find a new way to simply add those extra servings of fruits and vegetables we don’t consume enough of in our regular diets. We noticed an immediate rise in our energy levels just by drinking one smoothie a day.
I guess mom was right after all these year! Eating those fruits and veggies really do the body good!
I was asked by Williams-Sonoma to share my best harvest drink with you guys. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to take my regular smoothie ingredients and infuse it with my favourite fall flavour, pumpkin. This creamy blend is jammed packed with nutrients and will keep you feeling good all day long!
Creamy pumpkin smoothie with fresh oranges, banana, Greek yogurt and almond milk!
Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup Almond Milk
- 1/2 cup Pumpkin Puree
- 1/4 cup Vanilla Greek Yogurt
- 1/2 medium orange peeled
- 1/2 banana
- 1 tbsp. honey (option to sweeten)
- 1 tbsp. Hemp Hearts or Chia seeds or protein supplement
- 1/4 tsps. ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp. of shredded almonds
- hand full of ice cubes
Keep in mind, these ingredients serve only as a guideline. Use as much or as little as you like to tailor the taste. The sweetness is a total preference as well, so use the honey only if you’re looking to sweeten your drink.
Instructions
It’s pretty simple. Put everything in a high speed blender and whir until smooth. If you’re using a single cup blender like myself, I always like to place all my solid ingredients in the blender first and then add all my liquids. Also I like to add a handful of ice cubes at the end and blend again. Cold smoothies are just tastier!
For those of you who don’t want a creamy based smoothie, using a juicer for your orange, banana and pumpkin will thin out the consistence of your drink.
For an extra boost of protein and fibre, I always use Hemp Hearts or Chia Seeds, however, feel free to use your own supplement.
Don’t forget to garnish with a little almond and cinnamon.
Enjoy!
What’s your favourite fall flavours? Do share 🙂
