Over the holiday break, the entire main floor of our house was covered in plastic sheets and cardboard.
By the looks of it, you’d think some major exciting construction project was taking place. . .
But it wasn’t.
Hubby was just smoothing out the ceilings 🙂
After removing the popcorn ceilings in our family room with great results recenlty, we’ve been itching to do the rest of the main floor.
So hubby (aka the only man who is happy to spend that much time prepping a space for war), got to work and was able to completely remove all the stucco from our living and dinning room area.
Right down to our front foyer and hallway space.
In addition to all of this, we added pot lights to our hallway! The previous lighting situation was just bad. We had two boob lights that barely lit up our hallway in the evenings.
I can’t stress enough how proper lighting is key to changing the atmosphere of your home. The feeling of dark and dingy corners is no longer an issue in this home.
All in all, hubby spent about five days completing this project.
The results—totally worth
all the effort!
Pssst. . . we finally finished our staircase project. Details to come!

i hate popcorn ceilings but i think it will be a while before i’m able to take ours down. love the look of the stairs after
This looks great! Our house has terrible popcorn ceilings in every room except the kitchen and bathrooms, but removing it seems like such a huge chore. Maybe some day we’ll get around to it, I know it will be worth it!
