It’s week 4 and time is ticking.

We’re down to the final 2 weeks of our One Room Challenge. Actually, it’s more like a week and a little bit for us bloggers.

Truth be told, the last few days are spent styling the space, photographing every possible angle and creating a blog post that condenses what we did in 6 weeks.  Something you don’t want to leave for the night before unless, of course, you enjoy no sleep and a massive anxiety attack 😉

I spent the better half of the week buying and returning things again.  It’s seriously taking a huge chunk of my time.

My open concept floor plan is making things a little more difficult than I initially thought.  Although, I’m only decorating my living and dining space at this point—in the back of mind I need to make sure every design decision I make in this combined space will have a cohesive look with the rest of my main floor.

Err see my dilemma?!

I’m definitely wracking my brain around a design scheme that only partially exists right now. To also make my shopping experience more difficult, I have to consider my tight budget.

So here’s my update this week:

I was finally able to find some drapes for the dining room (after 4 attempts!).

Since my dining space is right beside my kitchen, I needed the two spaces to somewhat jive together.  I found drapes that had a similar colour to my lower kitchen cabinets.

I’m also loving how the gold light fixture picks up the gold hardware in the kitchen.

We painted the built-ins white.  We are currently working on adding trim details to the front. We also hope to create the shelves + add those light fixtures this weekend.

I have a massive wooden buffet server that I purchased secondhand.  I plan to refinish it for the living room. Hopefully it won’t overpower the space now that the built-in unit is in place (combined with my other furniture pieces).  It’s sitting in the garage so fingers are crossed it all works together when we bring it in. . .

Stay tuned!

Don’t forget to head over to Calling it Home to check out all of the other awesome ORC updates.

Thanks Thalita! The buffet server is so heavy that we are waiting on some extra hands to bring it in the house. I really don’t have any idea how it will fit in the space until I see it all together. Hopefully it all works :s

We’re having the hardest time finding drapes as well and I can totally relate to the budget crunch!

Thanks Tash! We are getting there. . .it’s all those little details that I have to worry about now. I found my drapes at FabricLand you should check them out. They have great choices. I’m trying to look for a roman shade for my living room. Now that is a task and half. No luck yet 🙁

It looks great and sister…I feel your pain on drapes! My dining and living room share a wall of windows so I have to have 8 panels. Do you know how hard it is to find 8 panels in a style that isn’t overwhelming. Sigh….But it really is looking amazing. Those bookshelves are divine and can’t wait to see how they finish out!
