Welcome back to Week 3 of the ORC.  Today officially marks the halfway point of the challenge! (Click on Week 1 and Week 2 to see where I previously left off.)

We’re still working on our built-in bookshelves in the living room. It’s finally beginning to take shape.

Considering the hubs and I had minimal knowledge on creating this structure, I’m so thrilled that we haven’t come across any DIY miscalculations or discrepancy with our lack of planning/research for a built-in. It’s definitely a first for us!

Big Joe came over this past weekend to lend a hand with some electrical wiring.  We’re just about ready to add light fixtures to this bad boy!

We also covered the remaining portions of this bookcase with MDF + we patched up all our seams. It doesn’t look like much right now but I’m totally going to up the ante on this one…big time!

This week, we also installed our new light fixture that was graciously supplied by Overstock. Can I just say, “I’m in love!”

This fixture lights up our entire space with 22 light bulbs.  In keeping theme with the rest of our home, I was looking for a modern-day chandelier in brushed gold.

The arms of the fixture almost resemble bamboo sticks which gives it this sleek but natural look. It pairs so well with our wooden dining table!!

It arrived so well package that it took us longer to actually unwrap everything than install it. The one thing that they don’t mention which I thought was pretty impressive is that it comes with four different sizes of metal tubing for the stem. So whether you have a 10 ft ceiling or 8 ft ceiling, you can adjust to get the perfect height.

It’s a pretty hefty piece so it did require me holding it in place while the hubby connected the wires in the ceiling.

I’m extremely happy with the size of the light in comparison to the dining room table and size of our room. It definitely does make a statement!

I’ve started doing a little shopping looking for some additional pieces to add to the living room. I’ve already bought and return 4 different drapes—the husband is just about ready to kill me at this point!

But I did find this rug for under the dining room table. . .

That’s some shopping progress right?!

Gotta love shopping progress! And that light – amazing! You’re not the only one that has to buy things multiple times to find the right one. 🙂

I do the same things when shopping for things… I’ll buy something, try it, hate it, return it and start again. The process happens at least 5 times until I get it right. Glad you found a rug for the space and looks like those built ins are coming along nicely.

The built-ins look great. Having lights on them is a very nice touch. If the chandelier is anything to go by, they’ll be really special!

That light is so cool! I feel like I haven’t seen a sputnik-style light oriented in that direction before. The built-ins are looking great! It’s so satisfying when you get something right. 🙂
